David represents vessel owners and operators in admiralty and maritime matters, contractors in construction matters, and commercial interests in general litigation matters.
David’s experience includes the representation of vessel owners in the defense of Jones Act, general maritime personal injury, and Fair Labor Standards Act claims. David has also represented vessel interests in collision and allision matters and handled vessel arrests and seizures, as well as the prosecution and defense of commercial and real estate matters.
David holds an agency certification from the American Association of Ship Brokers & Agents and has extensive experience representing and protecting vessel owner’s commercial interests during their port calls in the Mississippi River. He is well versed in both the regulatory and charter party issues owners and operators face and has served as the primary commercial representative for numerous international shipping companies during their voyages in the Lower Mississippi Tri-Port Area. While in law school, David served as an intern at the Port of New Orleans.
Experience
Co-counsel for firm team that represented a worldwide leading marine design and construction firm in the Seacor Power matter and obtained favorable settlements from all claimants on the general maritime law claims of negligent design and construction of the vessel.
Co-counsel for firm team representing a regional supplier of timber products, marine transportation services, and stevedoring services and prepared motion to dismiss for forum non-conveniens of a Jones Act suit filed in Orleans Parish that resulted in dismissal of the case.
